Every Drop Is A Gift

Hi! My name is Aqueelah.

It’s nice to meet you. Chances are you’re visiting my site because you, like many moms, require guidance along your breastfeeding journey. As a current breastfeeding mother, I would love the opportunity to support you. Here is a little bit about me. I have a background in adult education and community relations. My focus has always been on helping others reach their goals. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, my practice encompasses my formal lactation education along with my personal breastfeeding experiences.

Through my breastfeeding journey I realized that although rewarding, breastfeeding can be challenging even when it’s not your first time around. My compassionate and resourceful approach can help you with any uncertainties and challenges you encounter as you learn to feed your baby.

I pride myself on being a lifelong learner. In addition to my credential as an IBCLC, representing the highest level of training for breastfeeding supporters, I hold a Master of Business Administration degree.

Because of my passion for staying up-to-date on the latest research, I can tailor my recommendations to meet the needs of each individual family. I seek out training above what is required, particularly in the field of tethered oral tissues (also known as tongue tie). My aim is to provide families with a solid foundation of informed and responsive support so they can move towards wellness for both parent and baby.

Like many of my peers in the breastfeeding community, my primary focus is insuring the baby is fed and that both mom and baby are harmoniously thriving.

Living in the States or residing overseas Aqueelah is available to provide warm, loving and professional care. My husband is in the military, so my son was born away from family. When it came to breastfeeding, I felt like I had a friend I could turn to for support whenever I needed. Aqueelah was available through phone, email and my favorite-video chat. Sending my deepest gratitude from miles away

When I was getting ready to have my second son, I was very confident about my breastfeeding capabilities. I had over come so many obstacles with my first boy, I was sure I had it all figured out. Fast forward to day 5 of being a mother of two and I was sleep deprived, terrified and engorged beyond belief. It was such a relief to call Aqueelah and have her help me. She is the best and I would recommend her to everyone.

I was a second-time breastfeeding mom, having nursed my first for two years, so I thought the second time around would be easy. Little did I know...

My second baby had constant clicking still at almost 3 months old, slow weight gain, and lots of fussiness. She also just didn’t seem very interested in breastfeeding which was totally different than my first child. I did some research, as well as consulted with professionals like Aqueelah to learn she had a tongue tie and lip tie that were restricting her mouth’s movement and ideal function.

The revisions help, but it takes a lot of work after the procedure to get breastfeeding working efficiently because you both are used to coping instead of thriving. This is where Aqueelah really helped us get back to the basics. She was caring, informative, calming when a tired, frustrated mother needed it, and just there for us when we so badly needed her.

We are now successfully breastfeeding and have no intention of letting up. I am so thankful for the blessings of lactation consultants like Aqueelah. She is the best!

If I could give Aqueelah a million stars – I WOULD! She is AMAZING! She was so patient and warm when it came to helping me nurse my daughter. This was my second child nursing so I felt that I had a good foot forward but man I was wrong. This was a totally different experience and Aqueelah was a natural in helping me feel confident. The in home visits were AMAZING… The fact that she will come to your home is amazing. You get the benefit of her knowledge in the actual environment where you are breastfeeding. Having Aqueelah as a Lactation Consultant is the real deal.

After 25 years of giving birth to my first son, I delivered my second son. Unfortunately I did not breastfeed my older son. This time around I was more knowledgeable on the benefits of breastfeeding. Although I knew I wanted to breastfeed my son, I felt lost, confused and insecure. My goal was to breastfeed, but I was not confident in my ability to latch an infant. Also, I was scared that I would not produce the amount of milk he needed for growth. I was tired, sore and overwhelmed. Luckily I was advised to see a lactation consultant if I needed help successfully breastfeeding. Getting Ms. Russell’s help was the best thing for both me and my son. Not only did she pay me a home visit, which was awesome, she responded to any of my mommy questions and concerns immediately. She took a lot of worrying and uncertainties off my plate. Best breastfeeding consultant! I feel so blessed that I was able to share this experience with my son. Thank you for all of your support!

When I found out I was pregnant with baby #3, I thought breastfeeding would be a piece of cake since I was able to successfully nurse my first two. However, to my surprise I had a big healthy 9lb baby who nursed around the clock but was still hungry. My milk still hadn’t come in fully and he always seemed hungry. Aqueelah helped me not to worry and stress by giving me advice on foods to eat to help my milk production. She also gave me advice to help measure my sons intake to ensure he was gaining weight appropriately. She was super helpful and I’m so grateful to have had all her support.

I had just had premature twin girls (33 weeks) at the beginning of February and they both weighed about 4 lbs each. They were in the NICU for about 3 weeks before they came home. I had breastfed my first son for 20 months, but felt completely lost to how I was supposed to successfully breastfeed my twins after we had been separated for so long.

Aqueelah quickly came to my rescue with the most sincere and gentle approach. She showed me different holds for small babies and even helped me to successfully try tandem feedings. She was so encouraging and always made me feel that she would be by my side until we got it right. She coached me on how to pump when my girls were away and how to maintain a plentiful milk supply until they were ready to come home. She was so knowledgeable and I felt an instant and trusting connection with her.
When I decided that exclusively breastfeeding my twins was no longer what I wanted, she helped me to devise and prepare a plan to alternate feeds with my girls while supplementing so that I could get rest and help my body heal from my C-section.
Once the girls came home, she offered to visit to check their pre and post weights and to just check in and see how I was doing and feeling. I felt so supported by her and never felt judged for the decisions I made about breastfeeding. Her goal always seemed to be how I could breastfeed comfortably and successfully, along with the baby’s weight gain.

I would recommend Aqueelah’s highly qualified and passion-driven services to any mom; new or veteran. She is skilled in her profession and teaches with an empathetic and caring approach. I really could not have made it through those first chaotic months without her.
